  • Peterhead | ChasingBlues

Peterhead Peterhead Community Fire Station is a former Grampian Fire and Rescue Service station situated in Aberdeenshire. The station has three bays and operates on a combined wholetime and retained duty basis. Peterhead has one of three incident support vehicles (ISV) located throughout the Grampian region. The ISVs carry a range of equipment, notably 50 breathing apparatus (BA) cylinders, mass decontamination equipment, basic refreshments and a variety of logistical support. ISVs can be requested at any time but should generally be mobilised when more than 4 BA sets are in use at an incident. A support pump must be mobilised alongside the ISV, which will generally be the station's retained crew but if this is not possible the nearest wholetime pump should be mobilised as support (every wholetime crew in the Grampian region are sufficiently trained in ISV procedures). The two other ISV are located at Elgin and Dyce . Peterhead firefighters are trained as Tier 2 Safe Working at Height (SWAH) responders. While all SFRS personnel can operate a work restraint system, Tier 2 responders at Peterhead have additional training to use work positioning and fall arrest systems, allowing them to ascend and descend structures. However, this capability is solely for establishing a safe system of work for operators, including their own recovery if needed, and does not extend to rescuing casualties from height. Rescues requiring advanced rope techniques are carried out by Tier 3+ responders, typically provided by Altens in Peterhead’s case. • Pump | ChasingBlues

Pumping appliances are a versatile class of appliances designed to perform a wide range of operational roles at almost any fire and rescue incident. Combining firefighting capabilities with enhanced rescue equipment, pumps are equipped to handle diverse emergencies.  Pumping Appliance ABOUT Pumping appliances are a versatile class of appliances designed to perform a wide range of operational roles at almost any fire and rescue incident. Combining firefighting capabilities with enhanced rescue equipment, pumps are equipped to handle diverse emergencies. The standard pump typically features three lockers on each side, a rear-mounted pumping system, and ladders secured on top of the appliance. Depending on the station's location and operational needs, some pumps may be equipped with advanced water or rope rescue equipment, while others may lack road traffic collision (RTC) response capabilities entirely. In the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) , the 'first-out' pump operates with a crew of five, while the 'second-out' pump has a crew of four. In some circumstances, pumps may mobilize with a crew of three; however, this significantly reduces their operational capabilities during an incident. Specification Firefighting A pumping system of usually around 1,800 litres as well as a compressed air foam system (CAFS), hose reels and a variety of hose lengths, featherweight pumps and ancillary tools. Breathing Apparatus In older models, breathing apparatus (BA) are stored and equipped in the cab, yet in from 2018 onwards, they are stored in a specific side locker. BA sets have a duration of around 30 minutes. Rescue Hydraulic or battery-powered cutting and spreading equipment alongside support equipment such as airbags. Basic water and rope rescue kit as well as level 2 water or rope rescue at specific stations. Ladders One 13.5m multi-extension rescue ladder alongside a 10.5m ladder. Additional ladders such as folding roof ladders.

  • Incident Support Vehicle | ChasingBlues

INCIDENT SUPPORT VEHICLE ABOUT Incident Support Vehicles (ISVs) are specialist vehicles designed to enhance operational effectiveness at large-scale or protracted incidents, particularly those requiring extensive use of breathing apparatus (BA). ISVs provide logistical support, ancillary equipment, and firefighter decontamination capabilities. ISVs are generally mobilised when more than four BA cylinders are in use, ensuring a sufficient supply at incidents. ISV are crewed by retained personnel where possible, with a minimum crew of two for the ISV itself and an additional support pump crew of four. If insufficient retained personnel are available, the ISV will proceed, and the nearest wholetime pump will be mobilised to support operations, all wholetime personnel in the Grampian region are trained in ISV functions. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) operates three ISVs, all of which were inherited from the Grampian Fire and Rescue Service. Specification Firefighting Equipped with an additional 50 compressed air cylinders to sustain extended BA operations. Welfare Provides additional drinking water supplies to ensure firefighter hydration during extended operations. Decontamination Equipped with Gas Tight Suits for hazardous incidents as well as basic MD4 decontamination equipment for small-scale decontamination. Ancillary Additional equipment to support the likes of water rescue and flooding incidents.

  • Fraserburgh | ChasingBlues

Fraserburgh Fraserburgh Community Fire Station is a former Grampian Fire and Rescue Service station situated in Aberdeenshire. The station has three bays and operates on a retained duty basis. Fraserburgh has an agreement in place with the Scottish Ambulance Service, allowing ambulances and patient transport vehicles to be co-located at the station. Fraserburgh has Level 2 Swift Water Rescue, also known as Flood First Responder capabilities, allowing trained personnel to enter and wade through shallow or standing water using wading poles.
