ABOUT

Incident Support Vehicles (ISVs) are specialist vehicles designed to enhance operational effectiveness at large-scale or protracted incidents, particularly those requiring extensive use of breathing apparatus (BA). ISVs provide logistical support, ancillary equipment, and firefighter decontamination capabilities.

ISVs are generally mobilised when more than four BA cylinders are in use, ensuring a sufficient supply at incidents. ISV are crewed by retained personnel where possible, with a minimum crew of two for the ISV itself and an additional support pump crew of four. If insufficient retained personnel are available, the ISV will proceed, and the nearest wholetime pump will be mobilised to support operations, all wholetime personnel in the Grampian region are trained in ISV functions.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) operates three ISVs, all of which were inherited from the Grampian Fire and Rescue Service.
