Central

Central Community Fire Station is a former Grampian Fire and Rescue Service station situated in Aberdeen City. The station has four bays and operates on a wholetime basis. Central incorporates the Aberdeen City Area Headquarters as well as the Local Senior Officer (LSO) office.

Central is equipped with a 32-metre High Reach Appliance (HRA), featuring an aerial ladder platform (ALP) system capable of reaching up to 8-9 floors. The HRA supports rescues at height, serves as a water tower during firefighting, and can extend downwards for tasks such as cliff rescues.

The station boasts Level 3 water rescue capabilities, the highest level, with a dedicated Water Rescue Unit (WRU) and a trailed boat. Crewed by Level 3 water rescue technicians and rescue powerboat operators, the team can perform rescues by entering or swimming in water, and utilize boats or rescue skids. WRUs are typically dispatched to all water rescue incidents, supported by an additional WRU when needed.

Central is also equipped for Mass Decontamination (MD) scenarios, with a prime mover carrying two MD modules—one for decontamination and one for logistics. These units can handle large-scale decontamination, accommodating up to 250 individuals per hour at Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents.
