Incident Support Unit

DESCRIPTION

SV56 BFK is an Ex-Grampian Fire and Rescue Service Incident Support Unit primarily used for driver training purposes or to act as a maintenance spare when the major incident unit (SV53CNO) is off the run.


The appliance is generally kept at the North Asset Resource Centre (ARC) or training estate at Portlethen.

History

(unknown) 1993: A new turntable ladder is manufactured by Angloco for Grampian Fire Brigade, it has a 'day-glo' livery and is allocated to Aberdeen Central Fire Station.


(unknown) 2000?: The turntable ladder is involved in a rollover RTC in Aberdeen City Centre, it is damaged beyond repair and the chassis is salvaged.


(480) 2002: The salvaged chassis is transformed into a water carrier by Whale Tankers (and repainted to a white Grampian livery). The appliance is allocated to Buckie Fire Station.


(R22W6) 2016: Following the 2013 amalgamation of all eight Scottish fire and rescue services the appliance callsign is updated to a national standard.
