ABOUT
Command Support Units (CSU) are a type of specialized vehicle utilised to aid the coordination of operations during major or complex incidents. CSUs serve as mobile command centres, equipped with advanced communications, on-board computers, and command support resources they provide incident commanders and command support teams an enhanced level of logistics throughout complex incidents.
In the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), CSUs may be mobilised by an incident commander at any incident involving 4-5 pumping appliances and must be mobilised at 6+. Across Scotland, there are seven CSUs, three of which are located within the North Service Delivery Area (NSDA), two in the East Service Delivery Area (ESDA) and two in the West Service Delivery Area (WSDA).
